This newly created role will be the VP of Security for our Southern California based client with multi-national operations. This company’s roots go back to the early 1900s. Today, they face significant regulatory pressure but even more importantly, they face an enormously important responsibility of ensuring the safety of their client’s digital and physical property. This role has been created to create the North American security posture to include the protection of: Physical Assets, Electronic Information, Technology, Digital Content, Facilities, Equipment, Products and Services. These services include active protection against tampering, destruction, theft and misuse. This role will be the top information security and physical security role in the organization, will be based in the corporate headquarters serving multiple Business Units across North America and will report to a senior “C” level executive. The successful candidate will conduct security and risk assessments, propose security initiatives, suggest protection standards and will oversee and coordinate security efforts across the business. The successful candidate will work with various outside entities and will collaborate with all relevant departments such as Information Technology, Human Resources, Communications, Legal and Operations. The successful candidate will craft, influence and direct an organization-wide protection strategy. In addition, the successful candidate will stay abreast of increasing and changing regulatory compliance mandates and will keep the company apprised and responsive to the changing risks facing the organization. This role interfaces with and influences business leaders and other senior executives from the CEO on down. This role does not have any direct staff responsibility but is positioned more as an advisory role working across many operating divisions in North America. The successful candidate will be capable of influencing decision makers through the use of effective verbal and written presentation skills. Candidates who are willing to reside within the greater Los Angeles Metropolitan Area are strongly preferred. A more comprehensive job description will be provided to candidates of interest. Job RequirementsThis role requires a BA/BS in business administration, accounting, finance, security management, information systems, criminal justice or related field. Advanced education is desirable along with certifications such as the CISSP, CPP, ISSMP, PMP, etc. Requires a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible assignments that have led to a secure operation and technical infrastructure, the protection of physical, electronic and financial assets, and has resulted in senior executive confidence that security issues are effectively and efficiently managed. The successful candidates will demonstrate 3-5 years of direct experience in decision making in a security advisory or management role with a demonstrated ability to develop and manage the security function for the enterprise. He/she will be an articulate and persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the senior management team and who is able to communicate security-related concepts and explain the value proposition of security initiatives to a broad range of staff members. He/She will demonstrate significant experience with information security such as: Firewalls, IDS/IPS, Identity Management, Phishing, Email Security, Content Security, Perimeter Security, security auditing practices, ISO 17799, ISO 27001 Frameworks, SOX requirements, relevant regulatory and legal requirements, etc. Exposure to loss prevention, video surveillance, biometrics, executive protection, CCTV and related physical security skills and technologies is required. He/She will have strong relationships with industry organizations and associations such as the FBI, InfraGard, ASIS, ISSA, ISACA, ISMA, etc. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate outstanding verbal and written communication skills, strong relationship building skills, consultative advisory skills, strong collaboration and influencing skills, strong persuasion and negotiation skills and a record of mitigating risk while simultaneously showing business owners how security practices can contribute competitive advantages and organizational success.
