Canon announced it will recall more than 140,000 copiers due to a potential smoke or fire hazard, Reuters reports on WashingtonPost.com.

The company said it will replace three models of a personal compact copier made in Japan between 1987 and 1997 that may have a bad power cord connection, Reuters reports. More than 140,000 copiers could be affected by the recall, which is expected to cost Canon about 200 million yen (US$1.7 million), according to Reuters.

The Canon news comes on the heels of similar announcements by Dell and Apple, which both have recalled laptop computer batteries manufactured by Sony that posed a fire risk.
