Commuters who find themselves venturing through the Jersey City Exchange PATH Station are going to encounter a number of new security measures, the Associated Press (AP) reports.

Said improved measures include X-ray baggage machines and walk-through metal detectors, the AP said, and are part of a federal test program designed to step up nationwide rail security and operated by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The program is set to run through March 1, and DHS officials will use what they learn to design and test new technologies and products to make rail travel safer.
