At roughly 11 a.m. on Sunday morning, twenty-two-year-old Kevin Lorenzo Collins allegedly walked into the Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, Mich. and opened fire with a shotgun, killing one woman and wounding two others before shooting himself, the Associated Press reports via CNN.

Second Deputy Police Chief James Tate said the rampage is thought to be the result of a domestic dispute, the AP reports.

A child seated next to the unidentified woman who was killed was hit in the hand with a pellet from the buckshot Collins fired, according to the AP.  The relationship between the two is unknown.

Collins also allegedly shot and wounded a man who tried to stop the gunman from carjacking his wife’s car, the AP reports.

Ann Armstrong, 30, was at the service when Collins barged in and began shooting.

“I seen him come in through the balcony door, and he pulled the gun from under his coat,” she said.  “He just started shooting her, then he shot at the pulpit.”

Hours after the incident occurred, the suspect was spotted about a mile away from the church, according to the AP.  When officers approached, Collins shot himself before he could be captured, the AP reports.
