On Wednesday, a series of racially motivated brawls at the Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic, Calif. injured 19 inmates, the Associated Press reports via FoxNews.com.Castaic is roughly 40 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.The four different fights involved more than 400 black and Hispanic inmates, and they began after a number of convicts who shared a group dormitory segregated themselves by race. Prison officials quickly interrupted the fight, but three more similar scuffles broke out in three different dorms, forcing deputies to shoot inmates with sting balls to regain control, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Diane Hecht.All seven of LA County’s jails were in lockdown after the brawls.
