Virginia Man Kills Two, then Himself in Shootings

Two co-workers at a Harrisonburg, Va., medical supply business were shot to death Tuesday by a man who then took his own life, the Associated Press reports via USA Today.

The shooter, 65-year-old Brewer Hoover Jr. of Harrisonburg, died at a hospital after allegedly murdering Gary Gibson, 54, of Harrisonburg and Bonnie Gump, 54, of Grottoes, according to the AP.

Hoover barricaded himself in the building at American HomePatient at about 8 a.m. on Tuesday after the shootings, the AP reports, and police brought a hostage negotiation team. But after he stopped talking, police approached with their weapons drawn, and Hoover fatally shot himself in the head, according to the AP.

A police spokesman who called the shootings a “work-related incident” told the AP it is believed that two other workers were inside but were able to exit safely.
