Are Security Threats Overhyped?

Two Gartner analysts released their list of the five most overhyped IT security threats, with IP (Internet Protocol) telephony and malware for mobile devices making the list, but not all IT security vendors agree with the analysts’ assessment. The story, reported in PC World, reports that Gartner analysts see large businesses delaying IT improvements such as wireless LANs because of “overhype” over security threats. The analysts also blamed security software vendors for hyping mobile malware as a potential problem as a way to expand their business beyond the traditional desktop and laptop markets. Read more.
