Think Tank Calls for Limited Federal Response to Katrina

A Washington D.C.-based think tank believes that federal agenciesshould only provide limited assistance and support to the victims ofHurricane Katrina. GovExec.comreports that The Heritage Foundation feels that the federal governmentshould step in only when state and local governments, as well as theprivate sector, cannot act. A 10-page paperby the foundation feels that Congress needs to freeze federaldiscretionary spending to offset funding needs stemming from therecovery of the Gulf Coast disaster. Read more.
