Port of Houston Gets Majority of Latest Security Grants

The Port of Houston will receive $142 million in the fifth round ofport security grants awarded to 36 U.S. ports by the U.S. Department ofHomeland Security. An Associated Press article on SecurityInfoWatch.comreports that the port of Houston will receive $35.3 million that willfund efforts to protect ports from small craft and underwater attacksand enhance explosive detection capabilities. After sustaining damagein varying degrees from Hurricane Katrina, the Port of New Orleansreceived $2 million and the Port of South Louisiana received $1.1million. Read more.
