Credit Companies to Adopt Data Protection Standard

The top three credit reporting companies said that they would adopt asingle, shared encryption standard to better protect the vast amount ofsensitive data the receive. A Reuters article on Boston.comreports that Equifax, Experian and TransUnion will join to develop andadopt a data-cloaking code built on encrypted algorithm and 128 bit,secret key technologies. The companies claimed that by beefing up whatthey call normally previously employed security tools, they would””further assure the protection of sensitive consumer data whentransmitted between data furnishers and credit reporting companies.” Read more.
