The recently published ISO/PAS 28000:2005 for security managementsystems will help safeguard the flow of international trade. CaptainCharles Piersall, Chair of ISO technical committee ISO/TC 8, Ships andmarine technology, said in an article on that”the ISO/PAS 28000:2005 will allow better monitoring of freight flows,to combat smuggling and to respond to the threat of piracy andterrorist attacks as well as to create a safe and secure internationalsupply chain regime.” The specification for security management systemsoutlines the requirements for a company to “establish, implement,maintain and improve” a secure supply chain management system.
