DoD and Private Enterprises Issue Holiday Ethics Statements

As the holidays approach, the Department of Defense Standards ofConduct Office, government ethics officials and corporate ethicsofficers have begun to issue guidance and rules on gift giving andpartying. NationalDefenseMagazine.orgreports that these statements should be considered by contractors also,and that all contractors and federal employees should receive trainingon the gift rule. The rule bars gifts from outside sources, especiallythose doing business with the agency or gifts given because of aperson’s position. The rule also covers a monetary cap for certaintypes of gifts.
