To shorten lines at U.S. entry and exit points, the Department ofHomeland Security has embedded forms filled out by visitors with radiofrequency ID tags. Govexec.comreports that the transmitters, known as RFID tags, are placed in thestandard I-94 arrival/departure record that is filled out by peopleentering the country under the Visa Waiver Program and visitors withMexican border crossing cards planning to stay longer than 30 days.Testing of the device will continue through next summer at two stationsin Arizona, one in upstate New York and two in Washington state. Thelocations were chosen in order to test the technology in an assortmentof weather and traffic conditions. Read more.
