The flood waters continue to rise in New Orleans, Gov. Kathleen Blancoof Louisiana has ordered a complete evacuation of the city andofficials can do nothing to stop the widespread looting as theystruggle to rescue and evacuate. An Associated Press article on Boston.comreports that the looters are trying to get at mostly food, water,clothes and guns. One police officer was shot in the face by a looterwhen he tried to stop him and in the Carrollton section of the city,looters even commandeered a forklift to break into a Rite-Aid pharmacy.New Orleans’ homeland security chief, Terry Ebbert, said looters werebreaking into stores all over town and stealing guns. He said there aregangs of armed men moving around the city. The French Quarter, situatedon one of the highest elevations in the city, is reported to have beenattacked the worst. Read more.
