Spear-Phishers Pose as Executives

Cyber-criminals using passwords and sensitive information, are sendingphony e-mails that look like they were sent by powerful executives oftargeted companies. A Reuter’s article on Computerworldreports that this sort of targeted e-mail is called “spear-phishing,” anew wrinkle on the standard form of phishing. MessageLabs, an onlinesecurity company, states that it currently sees one to twospear-phishing campaigns per week. Emerging as one of several kinds oftargeted attacks, spear-phishing has seen great success, even withemployees who are aware of Internet crime and threats. Read more.
