The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued Lockheed Martin Corp.for ignoring a black employee’s complaints of racial harassment andretaliating after he complained. The Washington Postreports that Charles Daniels, an electrician who worked on P-3 Orionsurveillance planes, was subject to racist slurs, jokes and threats forabout a year. When Daniels complained, he said that his supervisorthreatened to fire him. He was fired late in 2001 when he refused towork with the team who had harassed him. Lockheed said that it hadstrong policies and programs in place against discrimination. However,the company has faced other issues regarding race discriminationpreviously. Read more.
