Explorer Hole Can Compromise Your Operating System

A currently unpatched flaw in the latest version of InternetExplorer patched with Service Pack 2 will allow attackers to execute codethrough a malicious web site. TechWorld reports that the bug also affects olderversions of Explorer as well. The article also states that according to SECConsult, the Explorer issue involves the way javaprxy.dll COM object works withobject tags and this allows an attacker to run malicious script code. Cisco hasalso reported a flaw in its IOS operating system, used in routers andnetworking hardware that allows hackers to bypass authentication. Read more.
