BP Asked to Create Safety Panel

BP has been asked by the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard InvestigationBoard to form an independent panel of experts to review safety at thecompany’s five American refineries. USA Todayreports that the request comes while the Investigation Board looks intoan explosion and fire that killed 15 workers and injured 170 at BP’sTexas City, Texas refinery in March. BP said that it would work withthe panel and quickly enact any recommendations. The board hascurrently identified safety management lapses that could pose a threatif not rectified in a short time frame. Read more.
