A recent test found that Internet users in the United States aredangerously ignorant about the type of data that Website owners collectand how it is used. An IDG news service article in InfoWorldreports that a survey conducted by the University of Pennsylvania’sAnnenberg Public Policy Center showed that 1,500 adult Internet usersgenerally failed the test, answering seven out of 17 questionscorrectly. The authors of the study proposed increasing consumereducation to address the problems identified with the study and newregulations requiring retailers to disclose what data they collect,when and how they use it. The proposal also suggests replacing the term”Privacy Policy” to “Using Your Information.” Read more.
