A 13-page document created by anti-spyware vendors and consumer groups has attempted to officially define spyware and adware. The Washington Postreports that these groups hope that more clarity will help to educateconsumers, improve anti-spyware products and fend off lawsuits fromspyware developers. Unfortunately, the document does not addressconsensual issues surrounding spyware as well as define how specificprograms might fall under a certain category. With more than 43 percentof U.S. Internet users hit by spyware and adware, anti-spyware vendorsare optimistic about creating a great starting point. Read more.
