German Bank Combats Phishing

Postbank AG in Germany launched a new plan to prevent phishers fromcapturing and misusing transaction numbers required by online bankingcustomers to make money transfers. An IDG News Service article on Infoworldreports that the bank, a victim of a major phishing attack last year,will offer “indexed” transaction numbers, or iTANS. Online customersare now told which TAN to use by the computer during a transaction.Only with that TAN can they complete a transaction at that moment.Postbank AG customers can also designate a limit on how much money canbe transferred from their accounts online.
