No surprise, then, that a press release for ELI, a security start-up, announced yesterday that Schmidt is the new chairman of its board of directors. But the rumors about his leaving eBay seem to be true: The release also refers to Schmidt as “former vice president and chief security strategist for eBay.” At least this time, the number of Howard Schmidts in the world doesn’t need to change.
