The House Appropriations Committee has increased the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) budget by $2.8 billion for Fiscal Year 2005. This is 9.4 percent above fiscal year 2004 and $896 million (2.9 percent) above the Presidents request. The bill also prohibits the use of funds to implement the controversial Computer Assisted Passenger Profiling System II until certain conditions are met.
