Army Major General Marilyn Quagliotti has been named Vice Director for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). Formerly the DISA’s deputy director for operations, Quagliotti now holds the number two position for the entire agency. DISA has announced a number of restructuring actions recently, aimed at providing “end-to-end global net-centric solutions” for the Defense Department, according to a Government Computer News report. DISA created three new units connected to its Global Information Grid (GIG) service delivery backbone: GIG-Enterprise Services Engineering (headed by DISA CTO Dawn Meyerriecks), GIG-Combat Support (lead by Air Force Colonel Stephen Lanning), and GIG-Operations.DISA’s directorate of operations will also merge with the Joint Task Force Computer Network Operations organization. The combined entity will be known as Joint Task Force Global Network Operations (JTF-GNO), which will handle both network defense and network management.
