Charter One Financial Names Its First CSO

Michael Slocum joined Charter One Financial, Inc. in April in the newly created role of chief security officer. He oversees the Cleveland, Ohio-based companys bank protection unit, and is responsible for overseeing the fraud detection and prevention program, together with the physical security of the bank. Slocum joined the bank in 1983 and served most recently as senior vice president and chief internal auditor. Prior to joining the bank, he worked for Cardinal Federal Savings and Loan Association and for the auditor’s office for the State of Ohio. Slocum received his bachelor’s degree from Lake Erie College. He is a certified public accountant and a certified fraud examiner.
