Patrick Beggs joins ConnectWise as CISO
Mr. Beggs joins ConnectWise as its CISO. Beggs is a cybersecurity veteran who has been focused on leading global cyber operations, he has more than 20 years of experience in information security, spanning the commercial, federal civilian, defense, law enforcement and intelligence communities. Most recently, Beggs served as Cognizant Technology’s global cyber operations executive. Prior to Cognizant, Beggs led cyber operational capabilities for AIG, Booz Allen Hamilton, Amazon Web Services and Bank of America. In the public sector, Beggs served as the first deputy director/director of operations at the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC). Doug Kersten joins Appfire as CISO
Mr. Kersten has been appointed CISO of Appfire. He is an industry veteran who will instill a positive security culture and grow the company’s security and data privacy programs. Kersten will help Appfire continue to lead the way in cloud security for the Atlassian ecosystem and software developer community at large. Kersten brings more than two decades of security leadership experience to his role, having led IT and security programs for some of the world’s top financial institutions and law firms. Andre Mintz joins Meta as VP, Global Privacy Program
Mr. Mintz joins Meta as the VP, Global Privacy Program. He has more than two decades of experience building industry-leading security and privacy risk management programs. He is an internationally recognized pioneer, visionary and thought-leader in the security and privacy risk management arena. Ben Schommer joins Magnet Forensics as CISO
Mr. Schommer has joined Magnet Forensics as CISO, bringing with him more than 20 years of international cybersecurity experience. Between 1996 and 2013, he worked in Okinawa, Japan for the US Marine Corps and SAIC in network engineering. Prior to that Schommer held deputy CISO and CISO positions at Tata Communications, FBR Capital Markets and Proxios. Steve Earls joins People on The Move as CISO
Mr. Earls joins PPLSI, parent company of LegalShield and IDShield, as CISO. He will be responsible for the cybersecurity strategy and elevating the company’s digital security, protection and management operations and processes. Earls brings more than 25 years of technology and information security experience in both commercial and government sectors. Peter Liebert joins LifeOmic as CISO
Mr. Liebert, the state's former CISO, has joined LifeOmic, an Indiana-based provider of solutions and platforms focused on healthcare. Liebert began his new role as the company's CISO last month, having been previously the CISO for Cerner Corp. Peter started his career in the U.S. military as both an officer and a civilian where he specialized in cybersecurity and cyberwarfare working for the US Navy, United States Cyber Command and the Secretary of Defense's Cyber Policy Office. Steven Close joins CData as CISO
Mr. Close is a seasoned executive who brings over 25 years of experience in cybersecurity and engineering to his new role as CData CISO. He will be responsible for guiding the evolution of CData's comprehensive information security program to support the extensive security needs of its customers and partners. He previously served as a security executive at SolarWinds, a leading provider of IT management software, where he managed software development and security efforts for database monitoring products. Tyler Jacox joins MasterControl as CISO
Mr. Jacox will take on the new role of CISO from his previous role as director of information security. As a steward to safeguard sensitive information for its customers, MasterControl has created this position to manage information security in a continuously evolving landscape. Jacox brings extensive experience, including 14 years in the military serving as a member of the cyber protection team and three years working for the National Security Administration (NSA). New CISO appointents, January 2022

CJ Moses joins Amazon as CISO
Mr. Moses has worked for AWS for 14-plus years, has been its deputy CISO and VP of security engineering since 2016. He was AWS’s deputy CISO from March 2010 to October 2016 before becoming general manager of AWS’ government cloud. Prior to joining AWS in 2007 as senior management of virtual private cloud, Moses was an assistant section chief for the FBI for close to 4 years with a team that provided technical investigative analysis involving software and hardware. In his spare time, Moses is an avid racecar driver. (H/t CRN)

Jon France joins (ISC)² as CISO
Mr. France, CISSP, becomes the first CISO of (ISC)², where he will be responsible for leading all cybersecurity operations and will publicly represent the association, advocate for its members and promote best practices. France brings more than 25 years of experience building and leading diverse technology and security teams. Prior to joining (ISC)², France served as head of industry security for GSMA where he led the fraud and security function for the global mobile industry, served as part of the company's leadership team and supported the risk management function. Prior to that role, he was global IT & InfoSec director. Prior to that, France served as both deputy IT director and business continuity manager at LexisNexis. Elias Oxendine joins Yum! Brands as CISO
Mr. Oxendine has been promoted to CISO for Yum! Brands, he will be responsible for Yum!’s Global Technology Risk Management (GTRM) function and establishing processes designed to protect the company. Leaders reporting into Oxendine include those overseeing cybersecurity services; identity and access management; and GTRM policy and procedure implementation at Yum!’s brands across the globe. Oxendine joined Yum! in June 2020 as Director overseeing the Yum! Brands IT organization’s governance risk and compliance. Later that year, his role was expanded to include service delivery and incident response before being promoted to Senior Director, which included new responsibilities such as communicating to the Board of Directors Oversight and Audit Committees. Chris Lugo joins Blue Cross Blue Shield Association as VP and CISO
Mr. Lugo has been named VP and CISO of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association (BCBSA). He will be responsible for information security and privacy, business continuity, risk and compliance activities. He’ll collaborate with the 35 Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies to coordinate information security policies, procedures and compliance activities. Lugo brings extensive technical and leadership experience to BCBSA across multiple industries, including science and technology, hospitality and financial services. Prior to joining the Association, Lugo served as the vice president and global CISO of Danaher Corporation, where he oversaw the global information security, cyber risk and compliance program. Bryan Payne joins BetterUp as CISO
Dr. Payne joins BetterUp in a newly created CISO role to oversee all aspects of information security including product and enterprise security, customer trust, compliance and overall cyber risk management.
