Meet the ShmooBus driver

I've known Jack Daniel for more than five years. We both sit on the board of directors for the National Information Security Group (NAISG), and he's been the driving force behind the ShmooBus road trips from the get-go.

Jack is the community development manager for security vendor Astaro. Astaro sponsors these trips and sends Jack to a lot of conferences. He's a serial tweeter, and his beard is older than most of the young pups on Twitter today.

He's also a driving force behind Security B-Sides, which is quickly becoming one of the hottest roving security events around.

Jack started these road trips because he was fed up with the hassles of air travel.

Not that driving this bus is any easier.

Last year we drove out of Washington D.C. after a massive blizzard. This year, we started the trip to D.C. in a snowstorm. He was at my house at 5:30 a.m. sharp this morning, and it's been slow going.

We're in Connecticut as I write this.

These adventures have gone far in bringing the security community closer together.

Thanks for that, Jack.
