On Monday, Avid Life Media (ALM) announced a $500,000 CDN reward for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the hack on Ashley Madison.

ALM, the company behind the adult playgrounds of Ashley Madison, Cougar Life, and Established Men, has been dealing with a massively massive breach since July. At the time, a group calling themselves Impact Team said the company profited on the pain of others and demanded that the Ashley Madison and Established Men be taken offline. If that didn't happen, Impact Team promised to release the compromised data to the public.

Last Tuesday, they made good on their promise and released the first of three different archives containing ALM data, including customer records, financial records, internal documents and records, source code, and the CEO's email spool. A brief recap of the situation can be seen here.

"We are confident that the considerable investigative and prosecutorial power that is being brought to bear on this unprecedented crime will lead to arrests and convictions," and ALM spokesperson said in a statement.

During a press conference in Toronto on Monday, detailing findings by a law enforcement task force known as Project Unicorn, ALM announced a $500,000 CDN reward for information on Impact Team, as long as said information leads to identification and conviction.

Project Unicorn is led by the Toronto Police Services (TPS), with assistance from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Ontario Provincial Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the FBI. The task force stated that the investigation is moving in a positive direction, but that outside help was needed – thus they're offering the reward as an incentive.
