ImprovEverywhere: The Merry Prankster
An interview with Charlie Todd, founder of ImprovEverywhere
By Scott Berinato
She had the hidden camera that was easiest to spot. She filmed security confronting other agents and had long conversations with security guards. She's 5'10", slender and blonde. For whatever reason, she never got caught.
Yeah, that's a real stumper. Which pays better, a retail job at Best Buy or your version of Punk'd with an Up With People vibe?
Unfortunately, I've probably lost money on the pranks. Hopefully our DVD will recoup some costs. I also teach at an improv theater, the Upright Citizens' Brigade, but Best Buy probably still pays better.
Do you think Best Buy overreacted?
I understand they have to do their jobs, but...people are so hypersensitive to anything out of the ordinary these days. I mean they thought it was some elaborate heist and yet we had a 9-year-old and an 11-year-old girl participating. They could have laughed it off. It's not illegal to wear khakis and blue shirts and be nice.
