November 01, 2005CSO — In an Oct. 6 speech, President Bush listed 10 plots that he said the United States and its allies had disrupted since Sept. 11:

1. The West Coast Airliner Plot (mid-2002)

Goal: Hijack airplanes to target locations on the West Coast of the U.S.

2. The José Padilla Plot (May 2002 )

Goal: Use dirty bomb to target unspecified apartment buildings in the U.S.

3. The 2002 Straits of Hormuz Plot (2002)

Goal: Target ships traveling in the Straits of Hormuz.

4. The 2002 Arabian Gulf Shipping Plot (late 2002 and 2003)

Goal: Al-Qaida to attack ships in the Arabian Gulf.

5. The 2003 Karachi Plot (spring 2003)

Goal: Target westerners in several locations in Karachi, Pakistan.

6. The East Coast Airliner Plot (mid-2003)

Goal: Hijack airlines to hit unspecified targets on theEast Coast of the U.S.

7. The Heathrow Airport Plot (2003)

Goal: Target London's Heathrow Airport using hijacked commercial jets.

8. The 2003 Tourist Site Plot (2003)

Goal: Target an unspecified tourist site outside the U.S.

9. The 2004 U.K. Plot (spring 2004)

Goal: Target unspecified locations in the U.K. with large-scale bombings.

10. The 2004 U.K. Urban Targets Plot (mid-2004)

Goal: Target unspecified urban locations in the U.K. with

explosives.
