New Yorkers Still Worry

Despite time and the security efforts of DHS and public and private sectors, New York City residents still worry about future terrorist attacks on their city.

11% were unsure about their communitys preparedness.

32% had confidence in the government to protect the subways and bridges in the New York City area from future terrorist attacks.

21% said their community has a plan in place to deal with a terrorism-related emergency.

35% had some semblance of an emergency plan in the event of a terrorist attack.

23% had made preparations such as storing food and water, a flashlight, a portable radio and spare batteries, as well as gathering contact information and establishing a meeting place for family members.

51% still worried about future terrorist attacks on the city.

68% did not think their community has an adequate emergency response plan in the eventof a terrorist attack.

73% did not think the federal government has given New York City its fair share of money to prevent future terrorist attacks.
