Long Island Businesses Rethink Ethics

A number of corporate crimes and fraud on Long Island in New York has cost billions of dollars and cost thousands of jobs.

Newsday.com reports that Computer Associates manipulated $2.2 billion in revenue, top executives at Allou Healthcare allegedly set the company’s warehouse on fire to cover up bankruptcy, the former boss of Symbol Technologies fled the country instead of facing fraud charges and in June, three Newsday managers were indicted on fraud involving circulation and kickbacks. The paper also pointed out that Long Island isn’t the only place in the country beset with scams and crimes. These staggering numbers have led businesses and groups to establish firmer ground rules and new ethics codes to improve standards and practices. Read more.
